Program overview

Overview

The Phoenix Hit Dogs launched their inaugural travel baseball season in August 2020 with five teams at 8U thru 11U and 15U (2024 graduation year) with 65 players.


  • Baseball Model: Our programming emphasizes advanced skill and technique development. Train to develop, not train to play.
  • Principals: Michael Earley, Scott Leonard and Tony Busseri.
  • Director of Programming and Player Placement: Joey DeMichele
  • Training Location: Chandler, AZ.


Teams

For the baseball year starting August 1, 2021, we have teams at the following cohorts:

  1. 9U Major (D1): Born after May 1, 2012
  2. 9U AAA (D2): Born after May 1, 2012
  3. 9U AA (D3): Born after May 1, 2012. Targeting 8U players and 9U players first entering travel programming.
  4. 10U Major (D1): Born after May 1, 2011
  5. 10U AAA (D2)L Born after May 1, 2011
  6. 11U AAA (D2): Born after May 1, 2010
  7. 12U Major (D1): Born after May 1, 2009
  8. 13U (AAA): Born after May 1, 2008
  9. 15U (2025 grad year) – National team, combines with MI players: Born after May 1, 2006
  10. 16U (2024 grad year) – National team, combines with MI players: Born after May 1, 2005


Training Model

We directly train you:

  • based on your defensive position,
  • as a pitcher (everyone learns),
  • as a hitter, and
  • as part of a team to advance you and your teammates game situation IQ.

Our training model includes a mix of indoor and outdoor training.

  • Players have the OPTION to train up to 5-7 hours per week with us.
  • Our training model is designed to provide families with options; when you miss a practice, you are not chased and your child is not penalized.


Monday or Thursday Infielders, Outfielders and Hitters 1.5 hours

Pitchers and Catchers – indoor training 2 hours

Hitting – indoor training 1 hours 

Game Situations in prep for tournament play 1.5 hours

Game Situations 1.5 hours


Tournaments

Premier events including USSSA (8U to 14U), PG, PBR, Baseball showcase, National Championship Series, Prospect Wire and Southwest Wood Bat Classic.

No less than:

  • 10 tournaments at 9U and 10U
  • 11 tournaments at 11U
  • 12 tournaments at 12U and 13U
  • 12 tournaments at 15U and 16U


Between August 23, 2021 and May 31, 2022.

All tournaments to be based in Arizona for 8U to 13U and for 15U to 16U, Indiana, Georgia, Florida and Arizona. 12U may also go to Cooperstown, NY.


Contract Principles

  • One-year agreement from Aug 15, 2020 to July 31, 2021.
  • Train and play at 2 defensive position AND develop as a pitcher.
  • Play not less than 8 out 11 innings at your position.
  • Small roster sizes.

Fees:

  • 9U and 10U: $2,500
  • 11U, 12U and 13U: $3,500
  • 15U and 16U: $4,500
  • There will be no other costs other than your fees: tournaments, trainers, uniforms are all part of your fees
  • Fees are paid by way of a deposit and then the balance spread out over a few months.
  • Full uniform package included.
